B is for Blond

My Kindergarten School Picture

My First Grade School Picture

B is for Blond! That's right - I used to be a blond..until kindergarten! And poof! In one year I turned into a brunette! I sure do talk about this aspect of my life a lot, even though now my blond years are a very small portion of my total life. Being blond must have meant a lot to me. I contemplate going back to that youthful look sometimes, but the cost of maintaining it scares me away (although my brunette now is from a bottle to cover my untimely grays, so it probably wouldn't be too much more than I'm already spending.). Anyone have any thoughts on this - have you gone blond and been oh so glad that you did? Or have you gone blond and then gone straight back to brunette, or red, or whatever you were before? Should I give it a try? I've had some fairly serious highlights before and I really liked them, so maybe I would like taking it all the way to blond.

And on a crafty sidenote - my mom made both of those outfits. She made a lot of my clothes when I was a kid. More on that tomorrow!

Great photos : )

My Grandma made so many of my clothes when I was a girl... then she started quilting. Now, we can look at her quilts and say "oh, that print was a skirt you made! And that one was a shirt!" : )

i would go with a few highlights to start. they are easier to maintain and not such a shock to the system. i was blond until i had my first child and went instantly brown!! by the third i was gray! aack! no i'm brown with a few highlights from the beauty salon!

I was a blond baby too. I think mine changed to brown somewhere around 5 years old. I tried highlights in college, but it ended up too blond for me. In my 30's I went the other way and was dyeing it brown/auburn. Now, I'm too lazy for that and have gone au naturel, a few gray strands and all!

Well I do agree that you can be beautiful whether you are blonde or brunette, whichever is right for you!

I was blonde like that until around 3rd or 4th grade and it turned brown, and has just got darker and darker.
While I like brunette, I just felt blonde was more my personality, so I went blonde many years ago and I love it! It is a medium natural blonde.

If you want to be blonde I would either go with lots of sunny highlights or a medium blonde, I think that would look most natural.

But just do whatever you love, not what anyone else wants! :O)

My daughter went from having the most beautiful ringlet hair to bone straight in a year when she was about 4 or 5...so I guess weird things can happen at that age.

I've had the same hair colour change experience. Once, I tried going all blonde again in my twenties, but found out that it didn't work with my skin tones (my face looked very pink when my hair was bleached out). I went back to being brunette and have had blonde highlights added (albeit sporadically through the years). The highlights can look more natural, well, at least on me.

About two years ago I saw a show on Vh1 or something about how blonds have more fun. After 37 or so years brunette I thought I'd give it a try. I love love love it. Every 8 weeks or so I go in for a base break and highlights, it's not cheap but I don't spend much on myself so I figure it's justified. I do think about going back to brunette, and I'm sure someday I will, but not yet.
